Mayors' Task Force on the Wake
County
Public School System Student Assignment Policy
Guidelines
Goals: To articulate, prioritize, and work with the Wake County Public School Board to positively and effectively resolve the most critical school assignment issues.
Membership: The Mayors' Task Force on School Assignment is comprised of 10 members from Cary appointed by Mayor Glen Lang, 10 members from Garner appointed by Mayor Sam Bridges and 10 members from Apex appointed by Mayor Keith Weatherly. The Mayors serve as co-chairs of the Task Force. All members of the Task Force, including Mayors, will be voting members.
Meetings: The Task Force meets on the first Thursday of each month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., alternating meeting locations equally between the participating communities. All Cary meetings will be held in the ballroom of the Cary Senior Center in Bond Park off High House Road (120 Maury O'Dell Place); all Garner meetings will be held in the Town Hall Board Room located at 900 Seventh Avenue, Building B; all Apex meetings will be held in Apex Town Hall located at 73 Hunter Street. Every effort will be made to keep all meetings to no more than two hours. The Task Force will follow standard parliamentary procedure.
Task Force Leadership and Support: Participating Mayors will facilitate the meetings. The staff liaison for the task for is Town of Cary Public Information Officer Susan Moran.
Conclusions and Reporting: At the end of the work of the task force, the chairs will present key findings and recommendations to the Town Council at a regularly scheduled council meeting or at a work session.
