Council Present: Mayor Ernest McAlister, Council Members Michael Joyce and Julie Robison

 

Absent: Mayor Pro Tem Jack Smith, Council Members Marla Dorrel, Jennifer Robinson, and Nels Roseland

 

Council members, board and commission members, guests, and staff began arriving at approximately 5:45 p.m.

The purpose of the event was to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication and to present the following proclamation:

DESIGNATING APRIL 2006 AS
VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION MONTH IN
CARY

WHEREAS, volunteers are recognized for their commitment to community service and April 23-29, 2006 is designated as National Volunteer Week; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Cary has an outstanding group of citizen volunteers whose unselfish efforts help to shape our government and offer valuable insights, which can effect positive change; and

WHEREAS, volunteers utilize their time and talents to make a difference in the Town of Cary and to inspire and help us to be mindful of our social responsibility and accountability to our citizens; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council recognizes the value of Cary’s volunteers, a dedicated group of individuals who are vital to the present and future of our community.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ernest F. McAlister, Mayor of the Town of Cary, North Carolina, on behalf of the Cary Town Council, do hereby proclaim April 2006 as VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION MONTH IN CARY and I thank all of you for your dedication and service to the Town of Cary.

PROCLAIMED this 31st day of March, 2006.

A quorum of council members was not present, therefore an official meeting was not held.
