E. PUBLIC
SPEAKS OUT (one hour time limit)
Mr.
Stan Norwalk stated he has a degree in chemical engineering and a recent
degree in environmental policy. He stated
Lake
Jordan
no longer passes the standards of the Clean Water Act. He stated the
lake’s condition is very fragile, due to excessive nutrients flowing
into it from many wastewater treatment plants, houses and farms that are
located in the
Haw
River Basin
. He stated additional building on the lake will only add to the problem.
He stated
Cary
’s world class, modern wastewater treatment plant is a safer bet for
handling the wastes around the lake than spray fields and lagoon systems.
He stated the best scenario would be no development, but he stated this
does not seem realistic. He stated recent decisions by the Chatham County
Commissioners to allow the
Homestead
development ensure that development will occur.
