Consideration for amendment to Town of Cary Traffic Schedule 14: Speed Limits plus adoption of request for declaring speed limit modifications and concurring ordinance for a speed limit by North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT)

Executive Summary:The NC Dept. of Transportation (NC DOT) has requested that Council approve the attached Request for Concurring Ordinance for a Speed Declaration for SR 1616 (Old Apex Road).
Discussion: It is requested that Council approve the Concurring Ordinance request by the NC Dept. of Transportation (NC DOT). The Traffic Schedule, Old Apex Road (SR 1616) from its northern intersection with W. Chatham Street south to its southern intersection with W. Chatham Street (SR 1011), 45 MPH; will be rescinded from Town of Cary Traffic Schedule 14: Speed Limits. A new schedule, Old Apex Road (SR 1616) from West Chatham (SR 1011), northward to High House Road (SR 1615), 45 MPH; will be adopted into Town of Cary Traffic Schedule 14: Speed Limit. With this approval, the speed limit on Old Apex Road (SR 1616) northward from High House Road (SR 1615) to Murphy Drive will become 35 mph, as per N.C.G.S. 20-141 without any further action.

BY REVISING TRAFFIC SCHEDULE 14; PROVIDING FOR:
Traffic Schedule 14: Speed Limits
In accordance with the provisions of section 34-149, Speed limit on through highways and state-maintained streets.
Deleted:
Old Apex Road (SR 1616) from its northern intersection with W. Chatham Street south to its southern intersection with W. Chatham Street (SR 1011), 45 MPH
Added:
Old Apex Road (SR 1616) from West Chatham (SR 1011), northward to High House Road (SR 1615), 45 MPH
Fiscal Impact: None
Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of the concurring ordinance by NCDOT.
