Take to the Skies at Cary’s Annual Kite Festival

Cary, NC – Take to the skies of Bond Park at Cary’s 22nd Annual Kite Festival, March 3 from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Soar to new levels of fun by casually flying your kite with friends and family or participate in a free kite flying contest and be eligible for certificates and special awards in a variety of kite flying categories intended for all ages and experience levels. Awards are family friendly and no experience is necessary; award categories range from “Best Crash” to “Highest Flying”. There will also be an expert kite flyer on hand to provide kite flying tips and assist with mending kites that need a little help. Music and concessions round out the event. The Kite Festival is free and open to the public.
Bring your own kite to the fun or register now for community kite making classes scheduled on the morning of the festival. "Kite Making Fun" is for ages 3-6 with a caregiver and “Let’s Make a Kite!" is for age K5-11. Pre-registration is necessary. Classes are held at the Bond Park Community Center from 10-11:30 a.m. Cost for each class is $14 for Cary residents and $18 for non-residents.
