Cary PD Arrest Suspect in Officer Assault

  • The Town of Cary Police Department arrested Demetrius Watson, 38, on one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon on a governmental official and one count of felony hit and run involving personal injury.

Cary, NC –. Thanks to tips from the community, the Town of Cary Police Department arrested Demetrius Watson, 38, on one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon on a governmental official and one count of felony hit and run involving personal injury, which both carry a maximum sentence of 41 months. The arrest comes quickly following a plea by the Police Department yesterday to help identify a man who was involved in the assault of an officer at the Circle K located at 3505 Kildaire Farm Road on January 17. Watson was taken into custody this afternoon at Walmart located at 2010 Kildaire Farm Road and has since been transported to the Wake County Public Safety Center.

On January 17, a Cary police officer responded to a trespassing call from the Circle K. Upon arrival the officer made contact with the suspect, who was in the driver’s seat of the white SUV. During the encounter, the male placed his SUV in reverse, dragging the officer through the parking lot. The man fled the area without being apprehended. Following the incident, the officer was treated and later released.

Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,500 for the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes. All calls will be kept CONFIDENTIAL at the caller's request.
