Post Date:11/07/2017 6:59 AM

  • The Town of Cary is accepting entries until November 22 for two of its holiday favorites: the Gifting Tree Project and Gingerbread House Competition.
  • The application fee for the Gifting Tree Project is $25; there is no fee to participate in the Gingerbread House Competition.
  • Gingerbread houses will be on display in Downtown Cary on Saturday, December 2. The Gifting Tree Project will also start on December 2 and will run through January 2.

The Town of Cary is accepting entries for two of its holiday favorites:  the Gifting Tree Project and Gingerbread House Competition. For the Gifting Tree Project, participating families, organizations, schools and causes decorate lighted trees that are displayed along Academy Street; the public casts its votes on their favorite. The creators of the winning tree will have a donation made in its name to the non-profit of its choice. The entry deadline for the Gifting Tree Project is November 22; application fee is $25.

The Gingerbread House Competition challenges participants to create a gingerbread house yummy enough for an elf's visit! Register by November 22; there is no cost to participate. The houses will be judged during the Town’s Heart of the Holidays celebration December 2. First, second and third place winners will have their gingerbread houses displayed in downtown Cary throughout December. All entrants must be able to deliver their houses to their assigned businesses on Friday, December 1, 2017 and retrieve them or arrange for disposal on Monday, December 4, 2017.

For both projects, entry forms and information are available online at www.townofcary.org or by calling (919) 469-4061. Learn more about the Gifting Tree Project and Gingerbread House Competition on the Town’s website and for more fun in Cary, follow @TOC_Fun on Twitter.
