Get a Free Ride on GoCary and Help a Family in Need
Food drive to benefit local community
- Passengers who bring one canned or non-perishable food item to any fixed-route GoCary bus can ride for free all day on November 15.
- This is for GoCary’s fifth annual food drive.
- Citizens can also drop off donated food in bins located in the Cary Town Hall lobby, the Cary Police Department lobby, and the William M. Garmon Operations Center lobby from November 13-17.
Cary, NC – As part of GoCary’s fifth annual food drive, passengers who bring at least one canned or non-perishable food item to any fixed-route GoCary bus can ride for free all day on November 15. All items collected will be donated to Cary’s Dorcas Ministries Food Pantry to provide food assistance to those in need during this season of giving. Acceptable items include, but are not limited to, canned meat, tuna, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, uncooked pasta, dry cereal and boxed rice. Please no glass items.
Citizens can also drop off donated food in bins located in the Cary Town Hall lobby and Cary Police Department lobby, located at 316 N. Academy St., as well as the William M. Garmon Operations Center, located at 400 James Jackson Avenue, from November 13-17. The goal is to collect over 1,500 pounds of non-perishable food items.
GoCary has provided approximately 2.8 million trips for citizens and visitors since the Town of Cary introduced its door-to-door service in 2001; its fixed route service was started in 2005. GoCary operates Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Using the online trip planner, citizens can ride GoCary to connect to GoTriangle and GoRaleigh, reaching destinations in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.
