Nine Nominated for Cary’s Hometown Spirit Award

  • Nine Caryites named as nominees for the Town of Cary’s Hometown Spirit Award, the most ever since the award’s inception in 2009.
  • The Hometown Spirit Award is bestowed annually on one Cary resident who enhances the quality of life in Cary by preserving, promoting and carrying out positive and quantifiable, traditional small-town community values and traits. 
  • The Cary Town Council will host a reception in honor of all nine nominees on November 16 and the recipient will be announced at the council meeting to follow.

CARY, NC – Nine Caryites have been selected as nominees for the Town of Cary’s Hometown Spirit Award, the most ever since the award’s inception in 2009. The Hometown Spirit Award is bestowed annually on one Cary resident who enhances the quality of life in Cary by preserving, promoting and carrying out positive and quantifiable, traditional small-town community values and traits. 

The 2017 Hometown Spirit Award nominees are:

“The nomination of nine Caryites for the Hometown Spirit Award is remarkable,” said Virginia Johnson, Town Clerk. “It shows just how amazing our citizens are and the lengths they go to make Cary the great town that it is.”

The Cary Town Council will host a reception in honor of all nine nominees on November 16 from 5:15-6:15 p.m. at the Page-Walker Arts and History Center. Immediately following the reception, 2016 award recipient Sheila Ogle will join Mayor Harold Weinbrecht in Town Council Chambers at the 6:30 p.m. council meeting to announce this year’s recipient.
