‘Try Transit’ with Free GoCary Rides in September

  • GoCary rides will be fare free on all fixed routes and Door-to-Door (Tier I only) services on September 21 as part of Try Transit Week.
  • Other events, including Cyclist Day and Seniors’ Day, also will give citizens the opportunity to try transit for free in September.
  • GoCary operates seven days a week: Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with extended service hours on Sundays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Cary, NC – GoCary rides will be fare free on all fixed routes and Door-to-Door (Tier I only) services on September 21, allowing citizens to explore public transportation as part of Try Transit Week. Other events, including Cyclist Day and Seniors’ Day, also will give citizens the opportunity to try transit for free in September. The following promotions will be offered in Cary to celebrate Try Transit Week:

  • September 19, Kickoff – GoCary and GoTriangle staff will be at the Cary Depot, 211 N. Academy St., from 7-9 a.m. to answer questions and provide information about the transit systems, including route maps.
  • September 19, Cyclist Day ­– Free rides will be provided to GoCary passengers who travel with their bikes.
  • September 20, Seniors’ Day – Seniors registered for Door-to-Door services will receive a free round trip to the Raleigh Farmer’s Market from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sign-up sheets for the group trip and lunch will be available at the Cary Senior Center.
  • September 21, Fare Free Day – All six fixed routes and Door-to-Door Tier 1 services are fare free.
  • September 22, Driver Appreciation Day – GoCary management will select the Best Drivers of the Year for fixed route and Door-to-Door services.

Public transportation continues to grow in Cary, netting over 2.8 million trips since 2006. GoCary now operates seven days a week: Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with extended service hours on Sundays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Using the online trip planner, citizens can ride GoCary to connect to GoTriangle and GoRaleigh, reaching destinations in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.
