Cary, N.C. – Season tickets for both Cary’s Marvelous Music Mainstage Series and Marvelous Music Family Series for the 2017-18 season go on sale Aug. 1 with individual tickets on sale Aug. 15. Tickets may be purchased through Nov. 3, or until they sell out, for the Mainstage Series and through Sept. 23 for the Family Series. The Mainstage Series runs from September to May with six events while the Family Series runs September to April with five events. All performances will be held at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave.

“We have put together a great group of artists for citizens to enjoy for the 18th annual Marvelous Music Mainstage Series,” said Sarah Preston, operations and program supervisor for theater. “We are also pleased to once again have family-friendly events with the seventh annual Family Series. The best way to ensure seeing your favorite show is with a season ticket, as last season many concerts sold out.”

The Marvelous Music Mainstage Series begins with The Doo Wop Project on Sept. 22. The group traces the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on the street corner to the biggest hits of today. Other performances in the Mainstage Series include:

  • The Donald Sinta Quartet takes the stage on Nov. 3 with a repertoire that spans centuries of classics and contemporary songs.
  • Violin player Lucia Micarelli, most famous for her time on the hit HBO show “Treme,” opens the 2018 slate on Jan. 26 and will take the audience on an eclectic journey through her influences from classical, jazz, Americana, and traditional fiddle.
  • Acoustic trio Ten Strings And A Goat Skin arrive on Feb. 16 for a show filled with old-school turns and current grooves.
  • Le Cirque Esprit featuring cordis & ABCirque fuses custom-made and traditional instruments for a cerebral performance of music with acrobatics and aerialists on March 3.
  • The final event of the series on May 11 is Loren and Mark, a guitar duo who give a show of stunning instrumentals, electrifying improvisation, classic melodies, and superb vocal duets.

All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. The Mainstage Series five-concert packages start at $105 per person, or purchase the six-concert package for $114 per person; individual tickets prices are adults $27, seniors (55+) $25, and Family & Friends Four-Pack tickets are $92. Call (919) 462-2055 to learn how to order, and remember that season member benefits include the ticket discount, first choice on seating, and exclusive access to the VIP lounge 30 minutes before the show and at intermission.

The Marvelous Music Family Series begins on Sept. 23 with Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble’s presentation of “Keeping the Beat” at 10 a.m. Footworks conveys the joy of dance while illuminating the historical roots and multicultural perspective of American percussive dances. Other performances include:

  • On Nov. 4 at 10 a.m., The Story Ship presents “Diggery Diggers’ Dino Show,” featuring paleontologist Diggery Diggers as he takes the audience back in time with intriguing magic and rocking music as they interact with animated dinosaurs, solve puzzles, and dance.
  • The Cary Ballet presents “The Nutcracker Suite” for two shows on Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. and Dec. 17 at 2:30 p.m. The one-hour spectacular allows the audience to enjoy a delightful, condensed version of the holiday classic “The Nutcracker” featuring the Sugarplum Fairy and a mini-ballet demonstration.
  • Opera Xpress presents “The Billy Goats Gruff” on March 4 at 3 p.m. This is an exciting, operatic version of the well-known story based on scenes from operas by Mozart, Donizetti, and Rossini.
  • The final event of the series is April 21 at 10 a.m. with Atlantic Coast Theatre’s presents “Rockin’ Red Riding Hood,” an updated rock musical featuring the history of rock n’ roll creatively woven into the traditional story of Little Red, Jack Lumber, and the Big Bad Wolf.

The Family Series five-ticket package is $30, with tickets to individual shows being $8.
