Lane Rose
2009 Hometown Spirit Award Nominee:
Lane Rose
Nominated by: Rosemarie Downie and Ellie Loring, who both state on the nomination form:
“Lane Rose has been chair of the landscaping committee at Village Green Townhomes for several years. During that period, the neighborhood has undergone an amazing transformation. Prior to Lane’s chairmanship, there had been few improvements to the general appearance of our neighborhood in the thirty years of its existence. What she did is amazing and how she accomplished it is impressive. She got two different kinds of matching grants from the Town of Cary; one was to improve the appearance of the property and the other to make it safer. As a result, we have new lighting at each residence and an amazingly improved general appearance. Additionally, she got large numbers of the residents interested in improving the property and working on these projects. Residents took down and put up light fixtures, spread mulch, and planted shrubs and ornamentals. This was not just the few homeowners who show up for everything, this was significant neighborhood participation. It was wonderful to see and I believe that it has had a long-lasting effect on the ‘community’ feeling in Village Green. Lane is enthusiastic and hard working and she convinced many others to work with her. She deserves recognition for what she has done here at Village Green.”
