Fix a Leak Week

New or old, one in every four toilets leaks. Could it be yours?

Join us as we encourage all our customers to test their toilets for leaks during this year's Fix a Leak Week, March 12-18, 2012. In support of the EPA’s week-long national campaign and as a WaterSense Partner, we encourage you to test your toilets for leaks and repair leaks that you find.

Toilet Training Tutorial kit

Kit includes dye tablets and
instructions to test and fix toilet leaks

1. During the month of March, pick up a free toilet leak detection kit at any of the following locations:

Or call (919) 469-4090 to request a kit via mail or arrange to pick one up at the Public Works & Utilities Department, 400 James Jackson Ave.

You can also download the instructions here.
Tip: Food coloring can be used in place of dye tablets.

2.
Test your toilet for leaks. Follow the instructions on the Toilet Training Tutorial to fix the most common leaks and begin saving water and money from being needlessly flushed down the toilet.

3. Watch the March Conservation Corner segment on Bud TV. See how much water is wasted by the slightest toilet leaks, commonly caused by a worn flapper, long chain, and stuck flapper.
