The primary goal of the water conservation program is to educate the community about the environmental and economic benefits of using water efficiently.

Workshops 

Workshops and special events address indoor and outdoor water use. The Compost Education Center in Bond Park is an excellent resource for those who want to learn about the process, benefits, and ways to compost. Citizens can tour on their own or attend workshops.

Block Leader Program
Citizens who want to learn about the breadth of Town environmental programs and become a resource for their neighbors may join the Block Leader Program.

Beat the Peak
The annual summer water conservation campaign known as Beat the Peak involves utility bill inserts and other mailings; newspaper, radio and TV advertisements; workshops; and the Town's Web site. Staff members are available to advise individual homeowners and business people on using water efficiently and to speak to civic groups.

Fix a Leak Week
March 12-18, 2012 is national Fix a Leak Week. In support of the Environmental Protection Agency's campaign and as a Water Sense partner, the Town is encouraging everyone to test their toilets for leaks and to repair leaks they find. Learn More.

Schools outreach
Staff members are available to teach elementary and middle school lessons on water conservation and related topics and to arrange tours of water and wastewater treatment plants. Many second grade and third grade classes have enjoyed playing Save Lots of Water (SLOW), a game that teaches wise water habits. Starting in 2001, fifth-graders can take an Internet Scavenger Hunt by navigating Web sites on conservation.
