GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS AND REQUIRED ITEMS FOR ANNEXATION PETITIONS
(Incomplete petitions will not be accepted)
1. Items below are required when your application is filed:
a. Administrative fee of $50.00 for annexation of parcels totaling less than 3 acres; $200.00 for annexation of parcels totaling 3+ acres.
b. Wake County Parcel ID Number (PIN), copy of tax bill, or a complete copy of the last deed of record.
c. If only a portion of a parcel is requesting to be annexed, a survey (clearly showing the entire parcel and the specific portion) and map sealed by a registered surveyor outlining the area to be annexed is required. Additionally, a digital metes and bounds description of the annexation area must be submitted in a word document.
d. If the area proposed for annexation is a subdivision, ALL of the subdivision must be included.
2. A pre-submittal meeting must be held with Planning Staff under the following conditions:
a. If annexation parcel(s) is part of a proposed site or subdivision plan, petition must be included with appropriate application to Tara Adams, Plans Facilitator; and/or

b. Corporation’s – Authorized officer and secretary (must be notarized)
c. LLC’s – If member managed, all members must sign; if manager managed, manager must sign (notary not required)
d. Partnership’s - All partners must sign; if limited partnership, general partner must sign (notary not required)

a. Copy of latest property tax bill; or
b. Complete copy of the deed of record for entire parcel(s); and/or

NOTE: Please be aware that if the parcel(s) requesting to be annexed is (are) adjacent to another municipalities boundary that holds an agreement with the Town of Cary; we are required to provide 60-day notification to that Town Manager before we can proceed to public hearing, thereby delaying the process accordingly.
