New Community Arts Project Kicks Off in 2016 – Your Door to Cary!

Come be part of the team that creates a community art project highlighting all the wonderful attributes of Cary.

The Cary Arts Center’s new Community Arts: It’s Better Together series will serve as an umbrella program for future community arts projects and events, where various themes will be chosen to facilitate community collaboration with professional artists.

This year, a selected artist, Cary Arts Center instructors and the public are invited to work together to create a temporary exhibit to be viewed this Summer/Fall at a central location in the town, to be determined.

This year’s theme, Your Door to Cary, was inspired by the original metal student locker doors that have been in storage several years, when the Cary Arts Center was renovated from being the former Cary Elementary and Cary High School. We are excited to breathe new life into these locker doors which are linked to the legacy of education and history of the Cary Arts Center and the local community.

Key Dates:
July 2Explore your creative side and assist with the Your Door to Cary Project! 
8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Cary Downtown Farmer's Market, 135 W. Chatham Street
Artist Nate Key will be onsite to engage the public in the Your Door to Cary Community Arts Project. “I will be inviting the public to assist in painting a connected mural using sample locker doors from the project. Come out and show us your skills, learn something new or just explore your creativity”, said artist Nate Key. We would love to see you there!

Aug 27 – The Your Door to Cary exhibit will be on display for the community to view. 

This community arts event is being co-sponsored by Cary Arts Center and Cary Visual Art (CVA).
