NCAA Selects Host Sites

While the NCAA decided not to continue with it's pilot "Championships City" program, Cary proves it's still an NCAA Championship community. On December 11, 2013, the NCAA announced host sites for 82 of it's 89 Championships through 2017-2018. Cary was selected as the host site for the following NCAA Championships:

  • 2014 Men’s College Cup - December
  • 2015 Women’s College Cup - December 2015
  • 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 Division II Baseball Championship - May
  • 2017 Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Championships - May

Cary would like to thank partners Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance, Campbell University, Mount Olive College, Meredith College and Capital Area Soccer League for their assistance in making these events possible


History

In 2008, the NCAA selected Cary to serve as one of the inaugural members in its “NCAA ncaachampChampionship City” pilot program that featured multiple host opportunities of NCAA Division I, II and III men’s and women’s championships through the end of 2012.

As part of the NCAA Championship City program, Cary hosted the following events:
  • 2009 Division I Men’s College Cup – WakeMed Soccer Park
  • 2010 Division I Women’s College Cup – WakeMed Soccer Park
  • 2010 Division II Baseball Championship – USA Baseball National Training Complex
  • 2011 Division II Baseball Championship – USA Baseball National Training Complex
  • 2012 Division II Baseball Championship – USA Baseball National Training Complex
  • 2012 Division III Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships – Cary Tennis Park

Additional NCAA Championships are scheduled in Cary:

  • 2013 Division II Baseball Championship – USA Baseball National Training Complex
  • 2013 Division I Women's College Cup

Prior to the NCAA Championship City program, several NCAA Championships were held in Cary.
