Located in Pittsboro since 1983, Mark has been making the distinctive functional pottery for which he is known, specializing in very large planters and jars, along with finely made smaller items. He uses local clays and blends the different North Carolina folk traditions together into contemporary style that has attracted a sizeable following. Mark also co-curated a major exhibition with Nancy Sweezy titled “The Potter’s Eye: Art and Tradition in North Carolina Pottery” at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Please join us for an enlightening evening featuring North Carolina pottery with a lecture and slideshow by Mark Hewitt at Page Walker Arts Center followed by a reception and viewing of Mark’s work in Town Hall. This event is co-sponsored by the Cary Clay Cooperative and the Town of Cary Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources.

This will be the Cary Photographic Artists Second Annual Open Juried Photography Exhibition. The jurors are Diana Hooper Bloomfield of Raleigh and Vinny Collucci of New Bern, NC. The Cary Photographic Artists formed in January 2007 as a club dedicated to learning, teaching and sharing photographic art.
