White Oak Greenway
The White Oak Creek Greenway, along with the Black Creek Greenway, represent two of the Town’s most important regional greenways since both link within Bond Park. When completed, these two trails will extend a distance of over 15 miles and connect the American Tobacco Trail, Bond Park, Lake Crabtree County Park and Umstead State Park.
The White Oak Creek Greenway originates in Bond Park. It consists of several segments of trail which extend from Bond Park to Green Level Church Road, a distance of 5.42 miles in length.
Greenway Description
- Starting from the eastern end of the White Oak Creek Greenway, the trail begins within Bond Park. Trail users can access the trail from either the parking lot at the Bond Park Community Center or from the Boathouse Facility. The trail consists of asphalt and is continuous for a length of 1.3 miles from Bond Park to Macarthur Drive.
- The segment of the White Oak Creek Greenway west of Macarthur Drive has not been completed. To access the next segment located off of Davis Drive, do the following: Turn right, or north, at Macarthur Drive and go approximately 0.3 miles to Waldo Rood Boulevard. Turn left (or west) on Waldo Rood Boulevard and go to Davis Drive, a distance of 0.3 miles. Cross Davis Drive at the intersection and turn right (or south) on Davis Drive. The west side of Davis has a 10’ wide concrete multi-use trail. Take this southward for approximately 0.5 miles. At this point you will pick up the main White Oak Creek Greenway again.
- Just south of Davis Drive Schools is Davis Drive Park, a 16 acre Town of Cary neighborhood park. Trail users can park at Davis Drive Park and access the multi-use trail located along the west side of Davis Drive to link with the White Oak Creek Greenway. From Davis Drive, the White Oak Greenway extends approximately 4 miles continuously to Green Level Church Road.
- Approximately .8 miles west of Davis Drive is White Oak Park, a 12 acre Town of Cary neighborhood park. The trailhead parking lot is located within the park with paved access to the White Oak Creek Greenway. (There is a sidewalk connector from White Oak Park to Davis Drive Park located along Park Village Drive that also links these parks together).
