NACRA Sevens Rugby Tournament
USA Rugby has selected North Carolina's Triangle region (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Cary) as the site of the first-ever North America Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) Olympic qualifying tournament: the NACRA Sevens Championships. The Triangle Sports Commission, together with the Town of Cary's Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources department, will be hosting the event Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14, 2015, at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.
For the first time in the history of the Olympics, the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will feature Rugby Sevens competition. The national men's and women's rugby teams from the following countries are eligible to participate in the NACRA Tournament: Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, St Lucia , St Vincent and The Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks & Caicos, and the USA. The top finisher in each of the Men's and Women's competitions will automatically qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games.
