• If an employee is unable to work due to a non work-related accident or illness and exhausts all available sick leave, the Town's self-insured Short Term Disability Policy pays one half of your normally scheduled hours up to a maximum of 26 weeks.

• If the disability is due to an accident, pay begins on the first full workday following the exhaustion of sick leave.
• If the disability is due to an illness, then pay cannot begin until at least seven calendar days have passed AND all sick leave has been exhausted.

• The number of weeks you are eligible for is based on years of service and is governed by the Short Term Disability Policy.
