Request for Proposals - Morrisville Parkway Extension

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

GEOTECHNICAL AND CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TESTING AND ENGINEERING INSPECTION SERVICES

MORRISVILLE PARKWAY EXTENSION (ST 1104, ST1120, ST1123, WT1124)

The Town of Cary is soliciting proposals for geotechnical, construction materials testing, engineering inspection services and NPDES inspection services for the Town’s Morrisville Parkway Extension project. This project is being bid for construction as one (1) project in one (1) contract and construction is scheduled to begin in March 2010 and be completed in approximately 10 months. The work covered by this contract consists of providing construction inspections for the roadway and structures in accordance with the construction Contract Documents, Town of Cary Standard Specifications as well as the latest versions of the NCDOT Roadway Design Manuals and Guidelines including, but not limited to “Standard Specifications for Roads and Structures,” NCDOT “Roadway Standard Drawings Manual,” MUTCD, NCDOT Supplement to the MUTCD, or as directed by the Engineer in order for the roadway is to be turned over to NCDOT for maintenance.

The Morrisville Parkway Extension project begins at Davis Drive intersection and extends west to NC 55, completing a 1.4 mile connection. Phase 1c extends east from Louis Stephens Drive approximately 1,150 feet to the existing Morrisville Parkway. Phase 2 extends the existing Morrisville Parkway about 1,250 feet to Davis Drive. Phase 3 extends the existing Morrisville Parkway over Carpenter Upchurch Road and CSX rail road tracks west nearly 400 feet. Quantities involved are attached to the end of the RFP.

The Morrisville Parkway Extension project consists of a new bridge over a Hatchet Grove tributary with a 4-lane, three span, concrete girder bridge, approximately 182’ length. This project also consists of a new 12’ x 8’ Reinforced Concrete Box Culvert approximately 163’ long.

Copies of Construction Plans and Specifications, which includes the Geotechnical Report(s), NCDOT Encroachment Agreement, and other information, can be reviewed at the Town of Cary Engineering Department and at http://townofcary.contractorsplanroom.com upon registering online. Copies of the plans and specifications can be obtained upon non-refundable payment of $120 per set in cash or check. Copies of Plans, Specifications and Contract documents may be obtained online at http://townofcary.contractorsplanroom.com at vendor pricing. A postage and handling charge of $5 is be added for any items which are mailed. Consultants may also obtain the project CAD files at the office of the Engineering Department, 316 N. Academy Street, Cary, North Carolina upon completing and signing a release form. If plans are acquired electronically, the Town of Cary is not responsible for firms relying on incomplete documents.
