Requirements for Water, Sewer, and Reclaimed Water Extensions

All Water, Sewer, and Reclaimed Water extensions require Site Plan approval and permitting in accordance with Sec 36-37 of the Code of Ordinances.

The Town of Cary has Delegated Authority to issue water, gravity sewer, and (public) pump station and force main permits within its utility service area. The utility service area includes the Town of Cary, Town of Morrisville, and portions of WakeCounty. Specific permitting requirements for water, sewer, and reclaimed water system extensions will be included in initial Town of Cary staff review comments during the site plan review process. The Town of Cary Site Plan Review Process is described on the TOC Planning Department web page. WakeCounty projects that include Town of Cary utility extensions are reviewed via the Town of Cary Plan Review Process. Projects within Morrisville should contact the Town of Morrisville for their plan review procedures.

Permits for reclaimed water extensions are issued by the North Carolina DWQ after site plan approval. Applications can be found at http://portal.ncdenr.org/web/wq/aps/lau/applications. Any fees required for this application are not included in the Town of Cary site plan review fee. Please contact Rick Jordan (TOC PWUT – 919-460-4939) prior to submitting to DWQ as the Town of Cary will have to be listed as the applicant and sign the application.
