Street Connectivity
The Town of Cary is committed to creating an interconnected street network through its Land Development Ordinance. This policy provides requirements for the linkage of street, bicycle and pedestrian facilities within the Town in order to provide additional choices for drivers, bicyclists, public transit and pedestrians by improving transportation connectivity within the Town's existing infrastructure network.
The focus of the Connectivity Project is to identify and complete existing gaps within the Town’s transportation network. Streets eligible for the project are residential or collector streets designated for a future road extension to connect gaps in the road system. Street stubs and cul-de-sac to cul-de-sac pedestrian only connections will also be considered.
Public Participation
Town of Cary citizens have the opportunity to initiate a petition supporting a potential project which can be submitted to the Town for consideration. A ranking system is brought to Town Council through committee annually to determine top connectivity priorities.
