Green Level Church Road Corridor Study
The Town of Cary will be performing a safety and corridor study on Green Level Church Road from Morrisville Parkway north to McCrimmon Parkway beginning in fall 2010. The intent of the study is to look at both immediate solutions for identified safety concerns and provide a long-term overall plan for the corridor.
Green Level Church Road is a north-south major arterial in west Cary that varies from a four-lane, median-divided roadway to a rural, two-lane shoulder section. The northern section of Green Level Church Road has seen great growth in the past with many improvements provided to the surrounding roadway network through both public and private projects.
Details
- Short-term: A Road Safety Audit (RSA) will be performed on the corridor with input from the community. The audit will identify safety hazards and examine the need for solutions such as turning lanes, traffic signals, landscaping improvements, etc.
- Long-term: A vision plan will be developed for the corridor. This plan will help guide future growth and traffic flow along this corridor and will rely on input from the community.
Public Meetings
A series of three (3) public meetings were held to receive feedback from the community and for the Town to share information about the study and the results of our analyses.
The first public meeting was held Thursday October 21, 2010, at Cary Park Clubhouse, 5353 Cary Glen Blvd. This meeting was used as an introduction to the project and to receive safety feedback from residents and roadway users.
