Cary Offers Free C-Tran Rides as Part of Try Transit Week
September 18, 2012
In celebration of Try Transit Week, the area’s initiative to explore public transportation, the Town of Cary will offer fare-free rides on all six fixed routes on Thursday, September 20 from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Other C-Tran events this week include Multimodal Day on September 18 where buses are fare-free for “Bike On Bus” users, and Operators Appreciation Day on September 21. Last year, C-Tran surpassed 1 million fixed route trips since its inception in 2001; in FY12, C-Tran saw a 40% increase in ridership compared to the previous fiscal year. Using the online trip planner, citizens can ride C-Tran to connect to Triangle Transit and Capital Area Transit and reach destinations in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. For a map of C-Tran’s fixed routes and more about C-Tran events during Try Transit Week, search “CTRAN” at www.townofcary.org or call (919) 485-RIDE.
