Cary Howlin' Good Halloween Offers Fun for All Ages Every Day (and Night) Through October 31
Enjoy outdoor movies, cemetery tours, a Harvest Festival, haunted house and more!
CARY, NC – It’s no trick; this weekend, the Town of Cary has planned several safe and spooky fun options to celebrate Halloween. There will be activities for all ages as part of this year’s Reel-ly Scary Cary and Howlin’ Good Halloween.
Get in the spirit with a scary flick in a haunted forest as part of Koka Booth Amphitheatre’s Reel-ly Scary Cary. Movies play nightly now through October 27; gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk and include such titles as The Spiderwick Chronicles and the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Costumes, blankets, chairs and picnics are welcome. For the full movie schedule and ticket information, visit www.boothamphitheatre.com.
On Friday, October 26, citizens are invited to explore Cary under the stars as part of the Haunted Twilight Tour of Downtown Cary, presented by the Cary Players. The hour-and-a-half tours start at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center at 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and are $15 per person; pre-registration required. For more, call (919) 460-4963.
Dress in costume and spend the day in downtown Cary on October 27. From 2-5 p.m., the fun will be at Ashworth’s Village where the Heart of Cary Association will sponsor themed games and live music as part of the Downtown Harvest Day. The Tricks & Treats Halloween Bash will follow from 5-7:30 p.m. at Cary Elementary School with Cary Teen Council’s carnival of games and prizes, trick-or-treating in Ashworth’s Village, and hayrides. At Cary Arts Center, enjoy live bluegrass from 6-8 p.m.; Applause! Cary Youth Theatre’s Fright School will transform the Cary Arts Center theatre into the 8th annual Haunted House from 6-9 p.m.
On Halloween Eve, attend “More Mysteries and Secrets: Exploring Cary-area Cemeteries” at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. This free seminar is part of the Friends of Page-Walker Preservation Speaker Series and highlights significant and intriguing facts related to some family cemeteries located in the Cary area. To register, visit www.friendsofpagewalker.com.
Regardless of the day of the week, Halloween is always on October 31 in Cary, and that’s the day most families go door-to-door in costumes for candy and fun. The Town does not regulate Trick-or-Treating, and citizens should contact their HOA or neighborhood leaders for Trick-or-Treating information. For a safer alternative, consider coming in costume to the Safe-n-Sane Halloween Celebration from 6-8 p.m. at Cary Towne Center Mall. In addition to collecting treats inside the mall while supplies last, kids can enjoy not-so-scary storytelling, a magician, sing-alongs and a costume contest.
