Cary Honors Local Revolutionary War Patriot
Nearly 200 years after his death, the Town of Cary will join the Friends of Page-Walker and the Yates Mill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution at White Plains Cemetery to recognize prominent Caryite Nathaniel Jones as Cary’s Revolutionary War patriot. The ceremony will take place on November 17 at 11 a.m. and will feature a grave marking ceremony, musket firing and costumed members. Jones is being honored for his patriotic service during the American Revolution as a Wake County Commissioner, Justice of the Peace, Sheriff, and Clerk of Court; he was also a member of the General Assembly, the Council of State, and was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention in Hillsborough in 1788. In the event of inclement weather, the event will move to November 18 at 2 p.m. For more, search “Grave Marking Ceremony” at www.townofcary.org or call (919) 469-4963.
