Wayfinding Signs to Help Navigate Downtown Cary
Installation of 100 signs begins this week through end of November
CARY, NC – By the end of November, citizens will have nearly 100 more tools to help navigate Downtown Cary, courtesy of the Town’s Wayfinding Installation Project. Starting next week, contractors working on behalf of the Town of Cary will install dozens of signs in 17 different sign types from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. daily; no road closures are anticipated as a result of the project. Installation will begin at the Cary Town Hall and radiate out, marking destinations like parking and public facilities inside the Maynard Loop from High House Road to Walnut Street. Weather permitting, work will be complete by the end of this month.
“As downtown Cary continues to grow into a popular destination for both Cary citizens and those in the Triangle and beyond, these signs will help get people to where they want to go faster and easier,” said Juliet Andes, Principal Planner for the Town of Cary. “This project will undoubtedly enhance the success and market potential for arts, entertainment, retail, dining and economic growth and development in downtown while reinforcing the area’s distinct identity.”
The Downtown Wayfinding Project was developed as one of the design elements originally proposed as part of the Downtown Streetscape Plan; the sign design was a result of significant public input through a citizen-based advisory committee and numerous public meetings. The cost of the project is $313,600 and is a Town-funded capital project.
