Feedback Sought on Environmental Assessment of Proposed Cary/Apex Water Plant Expansion

CARY, NC – Citizens are invited to review and offer their comments on a draft environmental assessment for the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility Phase 3 Expansion from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, 119 Ambassador Loop on the Cary Town Hall Campus. The water treatment facility, co-owned by the towns of Cary and Apex, produces drinking water from Jordan Lake for customers in both communities as well as Morrisville, Raleigh-Durham Airport and portions of Research Triangle Park and Wake County. The environmental assessment, conducted by the towns’ contractor HDR Engineering Inc. of the Carolinas, summarizes the project’s potential impact on 14 resources including wildlife, vegetation, air quality and noise levels.
