As Cary's A-Team Puts the Finishing Touches on "Battle White Christmas," Drivers are Encouraged to Continue to be Prepared for Overnight Encounters with Black Ice
CARY, NC – After another full day of plowing, sanding, and salting, streets are in good shape this afternoon, and the Town of Cary’s A-Team Snow Fighters have been named the victors in “Battle White Christmas.” Even so, drivers are encouraged to be cautious given the amount of water remaining in spots around the area that could re-freeze this evening and be an issue for tomorrow’s commute. A group of Snow Fighters will stay in place tonight to hit the traditional slick spots as most of the community returns to a regular schedule Tuesday.
Cary garbage and recycling will be on normal schedule tomorrow as will Town offices, programs, and activities, including C-Tran. Town facilities will open as normal except for Cary Tennis Park and Sk8-Cary, so please call them before visiting. For more information call (919) 469-4061 or any staffed recreation facility.
There have been 14 traffic crashes associated with “Battle White Christmas,” one of which resulted in injuries.
“I am extremely proud of and thankful for the excellent work of our staff and contractors,” said Town Manager Ben Shivar “I also very much appreciate the support they received from their loved ones as we took them away from home during this special time of year.”
