Nominate a Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Volunteer
CARY, NC – Nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 Town of Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Volunteer Awards, which are held each year to recognize outstanding leaders among the Town’s hundreds of parks, recreation, and cultural volunteers. The following awards are open for nominations:
The Outstanding Teen Volunteer is given to a deserving member of Cary's Teen Council who demonstrates an understanding of leadership qualities as they relate to representing the youth of Cary and shows a strong interest in community service and volunteerism.
Don Smith Award recognizes a volunteer in the Town's athletics programs who demonstrates leadership as well as promotes skill development, sportsmanship, participation and fun.
Distinguished New Coach Award recognizes a volunteer who has coached less than five years with the Town of Cary and demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with players, parents, and staff, brings in new ideas, and promotes the Athletics Division philosophy.
Cultural Arts Award is presented to an individual who lends leadership and support to all aspects of the Town's arts programs, including literary and visual arts, multi-cultural arts awareness and historic appreciation.
Seniors Impacting Seniors Award is presented to a deserving volunteer involved with programs and activities that positively impact the lives of their fellow seniors.
Parks & Trails Award recognizes an individual with strong leadership and effective organizational skills, is dedicated to the improvement and advancement of Cary’s greenway and trails system, who advocates nature conservation and education and displays a strong interest in making the public aware of Cary’s greenway program, parks and other natural resource issues.
Herb Young Award is given to a volunteer with overall outstanding service, leadership, and support for the staff and programs of the Town of Cary's Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department.
Volunteer Organization of the Year is presented to a non-profit, civic, school, club, or other organization that has partnered with the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department to help the department achieve its mission and goals.
Events Volunteer Award is presented to an individual who has worked to provide support to one (or more) of the many special events that are produced by PRCR.
Nomination forms are available online and at any staffed Town park, recreation or cultural facility; all forms must be received by January 14, 2011. Awards will be presented at a recognition banquet in February. For more information, visit Volunteers at www.townofcary.org or call (919) 469-4061.
