Town of Cary Police Department Hosts Operation Medicine Drop
Events Provide Opportunity for Safe Disposal of Unwanted Medications

CARY, NC – In recognition of National Poison Prevention Week (March 14-20), the Cary Police Department will be hosting three local medicine drop-off events for citizens to properly dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medicines. Each Operation Medicine Drop will have a law enforcement officer to properly dispose of the medication in a safe and secure way as well as to answer poison control questions. This is the first year the Town of Cary Police Department has organized and participated in a pill take-back week.

“The best form of poison prevention is to remove any risk, and we hope citizens take advantage of these safe disposal opportunities,” said Police Lieutenant Stephen Fonke.

Operation Medicine Drop events are scheduled during National Poison Prevention Week in various locations throughout Cary, including:

    •     Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 3441 Kildaire Farm Road
            March 17 from 1-3 p.m.

    •     Ashworth’s Pharmacy, 105 W. Chatham Street
            March 18 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

    •     Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 1210 Kildaire Farm Road
            March 20 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
