Cary Police Seek Help in Identifying Burglary Suspect

CARY, NC – The Town of Cary is asking for your help in identifying and locating a person in reference to ongoing residential burglaries in the Nottingham Drive area of eastern Cary. In a sketch provided by a victim, the suspect is believed to be an African-American male in his mid-20s, 5’3”-5’10”, weighing 130-160 lbs with a thin build.

Over the last two weeks, there have been six residential burglaries and one attempted burglary. These acts have occurred during the day when the home is unoccupied. Witnesses have observed the man repeatedly ringing the doorbell then proceeding to the back door and throwing a rock or brick through the sliding glass door to gain entry. Items targeted include gaming systems, jewelry and money.

To help prevent this sort of crime, the Town of Cary Police Department reminds homeowners to:

  • Make sure valuables are not visible from the street;
  • Keep bushes and shrubs trimmed around the exterior of your home;
  • Work together with your neighbors on watching out for one another; and,
  • Call the police on any suspicious activity.

Anyone near the area during the time of the burglaries is encouraged to contact the Town of Cary Police Department at (919) 469-4013 or Cary Crime Stoppers at 226-CRIM(E). Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,500 for the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes. All calls will be kept CONFIDENTIAL at caller's request.
