Cross Current Chamber Music Arts Festival Concerts Come to Cary
CARY, NC – Musicians from all corners of the world will travel to the Triangle for the 3rd Annual Cross Currents Chamber Music Arts Festival, a 10-day jazz and classical music festival aimed to support the ever-growing local interest in the arts. The program runs from July 2-11 and is co-sponsored by the City of Raleigh and the Town of Cary.
“A festival of this caliber ensures a diverse cultural offering for the area in the summer months,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Preston. “We hope the community takes advantage of the opportunity to see these international ensembles.”
While Cross Currents Chamber Music Arts Festival events are scattered throughout the Triangle, the Town of Cary will host 4 events. On July 6 at 7:30 p.m., enjoy an evening with the Pierre Anchkaert Jazz Quintet and Will Scruggs Jazz Fellowship at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, 119 Ambassador Loop. A reception with the musicians will follow. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased through www.eTix.com.
Featuring members of the North Carolina Symphony, the Brussels Chamber Orchestra will host an open rehearsal on July 8 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Chapel, 218 S. Academy Street. Also free of charge is the Masterclass with cellist Gavriel Lipkind on July 9 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. Donations to benefit the Community Music School will be accepted at the Masterclass.
The events in Cary end with a captivating concert by the Brussels Chamber Orchestra featuring members of the North Carolina Symphony in the relaxed setting of the Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park,801 High House Road. This is set for July 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at www.eTix.com. All events are open to the public.
