Crime Alert - Burglaries of Medical Offices
CARY, NC – The Town of Cary is asking for your help in solving a recent series of burglaries of medical offices that occurred last night and early this morning in the 900 block of SE Cary Parkway and the 100 block of Parkway Office Court. Rear door locks were broken and burglar alarms disabled. Items targeted included overnight deposits, narcotics and prescription medications. No injuries have been reported.
In addition to reporting any suspicious or unfamiliar vehicles or pedestrians near commercial centers, the Town of Cary Police Department reminds business owners to:
- Lighting: Assure that all entry points to the building are properly illuminated and that all of the existing lighting is in good working order.
- Locks: Make sure that all doors, windows, and skylights are secured with the best possible locks, and check locks regularly to ensure they remain in good working order. While no lock is burglar proof, the more difficult it is to gain entry, the longer it will take, which increases the chances of burglars’ getting caught.
- Safes and registers: Never leave large amounts of money in the safe or register overnight. Consider signage which states that no cash is left on the premises overnight. Safes should be secured to the floor and not be visible from the outside.
- Alarm and video systems: If utilizing an alarm system make sure to have clearly visible signage stating the premises is protected by an alarm, and set video systems to record overnight.
Anyone near the area during the time of the burglaries is encouraged to contact the Town of Cary Police Department at (919) 469-4012 or Cary Crime Stoppers at 226-CRIM(E). Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,500 for the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes. All calls will be kept CONFIDENTIAL at caller's request.
