Exercise Good Water Habits to Beat the Peak in Cary
CARY, NC – With higher temperatures and dry weather upon us, the Town of Cary encourages all citizens to “Exercise Good Water Habits,” the theme of this summer’s Beat the Peak campaign. “The Town’s water conservation program is designed to educate the community about the environmental and economic benefits of practicing water efficiency,” said Marie Cefalo, water conservation coordinator. “In addition to our workshops, we’ll have information on rebate programs and water ordinances plus promotional items at Lazy Daze. Our Block Leaders will also have water bottles for their neighbors.”
Established in 1998, Cary’s Beat the Peak campaign is the annual outdoor water conservation initiative to educate its utility customers about water conservation through vehicles such as the Town’s Web site, Block Leader program, media relations, direct mail, promotional materials and free workshops. The Beat the Peak campaign serves as a reminder of the Town’s three year-round watering ordinances: Alternate Day Watering, which has been adopted by all surrounding Triangle municipalities, Water Waste and Rain Sensor. The campaign runs from May until August. Since the program’s inception, the Town of Cary has seen a gradual reduction in per capita usage.
