Mike Wiley Preesnts one Noble Journey as a Part of Cary's MLK, Jr. Dreamfest 2010
CARY, NC – Actor and writer Mike Wiley will share his talent with the community at the Town of Cary’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Dreamfest on Saturday, January 16, 6 p.m. at the Herb Young Community Center. The performance will feature a free concert by the Concert Singers of Cary and will be followed by a discussion. Dreamfest is held each year to encourage a greater sense of community through actualizing and celebrating the legacy, dreams, aspirations and spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Actor and writer Mike Wiley combines art and education to raise cultural awareness by bringing to life untold stories in African-American history. In each original play, Wiley becomes different significant figures. In One Noble Journey, Wiley portrays Henry “Box” Brown, who mails himself to freedom in a crate labeled “This Side Up.” Other figures include Ellen Craft, William Craft, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and many others. Tickets for the Mike Wiley performance are still available for $12 (in advance) and $15 (at the door). Tickets can be purchased at the Herb Young Community Center, Monday through Friday, noon-6 p.m. or through Ticketmaster, www.ticketmaster.com or (800) 745-3000.
“We are pleased to welcome Mike Wiley back to Cary to celebrate the dream and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” said Cultural Arts Program Specialist Rob Garner. “We are also looking forward to other activities to honor and celebrate King’s life.” Garner encourages everyone to attend other, free festivities on January 16 planned in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., including:
• A community expo
• Arts and crafts activities for children

• A free concert at 4 p.m. by the Chamber Choir of the Concert Singers of Cary who will present African and African American music from the past and present
