Experience Cary's First Madrigal Dinner

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 4, 2010

Sponsored by the Town of Cary, NC Renaissance Faire and Historical Enrichment Society

Cary, NC - Celebrate Twelfth Night, the traditional end of the Christmas season, in sumptuous medieval style with a Madrigal Feast on Saturday, January 9, 2010, 7 p.m. at the Herb Young Community Center, 101 Wilkinson Ave. in downtown Cary.

The evening’s entertainment will feature music and song by The Historical Enrichment Society’s music group, The Musician’s Royale, who will be singing traditional songs of the Christmas season including many that are still familiar today such as “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” In addition, they will feature some songs of the peasantry and even a drinking song or two to liven the festivities and encourage the feasters to sing along at times.

The Twelfth Night Madrigal Feast will feature Mike Saunders as Henry VIII and Lynn Peverill as his wife Katherine Parr as the hosts of the evening. From the Performance Company of The North Carolina Renaissance Faire, the jester, Loquax, played by Rick Phillips and the NCRF Performance Company will create a variety of characters and entertainments to delight the Feasting Party. And as court dance was a large part of any celebration, The Historical Enrichment Society Dance Company will both demonstrate dances and invite the audience to participate in some of the simpler dances of the time.

Tickets are $50 which includes a dinner with wine or other beverage, merriment, song, dance, and a variety of entertainment. Purchase tickets at the community center or by contacting Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or (800) 745-3000. For more, call (919) 755-8004 or visit www.ncrenfaire.org.
