Town of Cary Asks Citizens to Evaluate Cary Parkway at High House Road with Online Survey
CARY, NC—The Town of Cary is asking citizens for feedback on the efficiency of the Cary Parkway at High House Road intersection. From July 1- August 31, 2010, Cary residents and business owners will have an opportunity to share their thoughts on the current state of the intersection and suggest design alternatives via an online survey, which is available at the Cary Parkway and High House Road project page of www.townofcary.org. Feedback will also be accepted via email to intersections@townofcary.org and by mail to: Town of Cary Engineering Department, c/o Cary Parkway and High House Road, P.O. Box 8005, Cary, NC 27512.
“Currently, the intersection is failing to meet Cary’s travel standards at certain times of the day,” said traffic engineer David Spencer. “The Town of Cary is committed to providing a safe, efficient and effective transportation system, and we want citizens who live, work and drive through the area to help us develop effective solutions now before the situation becomes more problematic.”
Last fall, several community meetings were held for the public to discuss alternative intersection design options with Town Staff. The results were inconclusive, and at its January 14, 2010 regular meeting, the Cary Town Council directed staff to initiate a comprehensive evaluation of the highly traveled intersection, paying particular attention to its current level of efficiency and considering its role in the future growth of the town. Public input will be reviewed by staff and presented to the Town Council later this fall.
