Arrest by Cary Police Ties Criminal to Dozens of Break-ins

CARY, NC – Since arresting a man for breaking and entering, the Town of Cary Police Department has successfully linked Darryl Lee Brown, 44, of Durham, North Carolina to over 30 commercial break-ins throughout Wake County. Brown has been charged with two counts of Felony Breaking and Entering and is being held at the Wake County Public Safety Center. Additional charges with different jurisdictions in Wake County are pending.

Brown was arrested on July 3, 2009 for breaking into Planet Smoothie, 90 Cornerstone Drive, Cary. While being held at the Wake County Public Safety Center, officers were able to identify Brown in 30 other similar cases throughout Wake County, including a break and entering case at Cary’s Spirits Pub & Grill, 701 E. Chatham Street. All cases took place between December 2008 and July 2009.

“With this arrest, we can bring closure to handfuls of business owners in Cary and beyond,” said Pat Bazemore, Police Chief with the Town of Cary.
