REVELS SELECTED AS CARY ’S NEW UTILITIES DIRECTOR

 

CARY , NC Cary Town Manager Ben Shivar has selected Jamie Revels to serve as the Town of Cary ’s Utilities Director.  Revels, 37, has been with the Town of Cary Engineering Department since January 2000, most recently serving as the Senior Engineer.  He took the helm of the Utilities Division on March 23, 2009 , following the retirement of the previous Utilities Director Rob Bonne.  In his new role, Revels will plan, direct, oversee and coordinate the activities of the water and wastewater functions of the department, including operations for the treatment plants, distribution and collection lines, pump stations and storage tanks.

 

“Jamie brings a wealth of expertise to the Utilities Director's position, and I have complete confidence in his future success,” said Town Manager Ben Shivar.  “Over the years, Jamie has demonstrated his ability to apply his experience and his extensive knowledge of utilities to planning and problem solving in the Engineering Department, and I’m looking forward to working with him to bring that same talent and hard work to the utilities challenges that the Town will face in the future.”

Revels holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degrees in Biological & Agricultural Engineering from NC State University.  He is also a Licensed Professional Engineer and is a member of the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation.

 

Revels has served as project manager for the Western Wake Regional Wastewater Management Facility project, as well as capital projects manager and design engineer for more than 45 projects, studies and initiatives ranging from $20,000 to $2.7 million. He also initiated the Town’s first sewer rehabilitation projects and managed the Town’s approved utility products and materials program for six years.

 

Revels and his wife, Kate, are the parents of a 10-month-old daughter, Laura.  He is a native of Williamston , NC .
