May 15, 2009
CARY, NC -
As part of the Town of Cary’s Spring Sertoma Series and the PineCone Concert Series, Chatham County Line will perform in Cary on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 3 p.m. at the Sertoma Amphitheatre at Bond Park, 801 High House Road . The performance is part of the Town’s Annual Spring Sertoma Concert Series that features the best in free, live, outdoor entertainment. In addition, the Town has partnered with PineCone, the Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, to host the concert.
Formed in
Raleigh 10 years ago, Chatham County Line has traveled throughout the
U.S. and
Europe , winning awards in the bluegrass world and the singer-songwriter world. Dave Wilson, the band's lead singer and guitarist, does most of the group's songwriting. John Teer (guitar, fiddle, mandolin, back-up vocals), Chandler Holt (banjo, dobro, guitar), and Greg Readling (bass, pedal steel guitar, back-up vocals) provide the foundation for Wilson's creations while adding harmony and texture to make the music shine.
PineCone was formed in 1984 to honor the traditional music heritage that makes
North Carolina unique. PineCone is a private, non-profit, charitable membership organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who are Triangle citizens. PineCone moved its free summer concert series from Lake Benson Park in Garner to the Sertoma Amphitheatre in
Cary ’s Bond Park in March 2009.
“Music lovers near and far are invited to come out to Bond Park for a wonderful afternoon of live entertainment in the great outdoors,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.
Everyone is also invited to attend the last Spring Sertoma Concert of the season, featuring David Dyer & the Crooked Smile Band, on Sunday, May 31 at
3 p.m. PineCone and the Town of
Cary will also partner again on Saturday, June 20 at
3 p.m. for a concert featuring John Dee Holeman at Bond Park.
The Sertoma Amphitheatre, nestled away inside Bond Park, is one of
Cary ’s best-kept secrets. This intimate, 350-seat amphitheatre is a perfect setting for spring concerts. The shade trees, covered stage, and theatre-style seating for the audience make it comfortable to enjoy music in a beautiful outdoor setting.
In case of inclement weather, updated show information will be available at least three hours before the show at (919) 462-3969.
