Alternate Day Watering is in Effect Year Round in Cary and Morrisville

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 14, 2009

Warm weather is here, and the Town of Cary is reminding its water customers who choose to irrigate to water only as needed according to our Town’s Alternate Day Watering schedule:

•           Odd-street addresses: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday

•           Even-street addresses: Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday

Handwatering is allowed any day of the week.  On Mondays, automated irrigation, including hose and sprinkler connections, is not permitted.  It may not be necessary to water on each of your designated days.  Well established turf can survive up to three weeks without water.

And consider the following water-wise tips to help you “Soak in the Savings”, the theme of our 2009 Beat the Peak water conservation campaign:

•           If you choose to water, do so in the early morning to minimize water lost to evaporation

•           Don’t water when rain is in the forecast

•           Mulch flower beds to reduce evaporation
