NEWCOMER COMES TO CARY TO KICK OFF 2009 FALL SERTOMA SERIES

CARY, NC – In the first of four free concerts in the 2009 Fall Sertoma Series, Carrie Newcomer is bringing her guitar playing and folk music to the Town of Cary’s Sertoma Amphitheatre at Bond Park, 801 High House Road, on Saturday, September 5 at 3 p.m. With her straightforward and accessible style, Newcomer invites listeners to slow down and reflect on the small things that make life worthwhile. She takes on serious subjects with a healthy measure of good humor and self-awareness by telling compelling stories.
“Start the fall season off in the beautiful, serene atmosphere of Cary’s Sertoma Amphitheatre, all while enjoying the superb talents of performing artists,” said Town of Cary Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.” There’s something for everyone in the Fall Sertoma Series, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of these free, outdoor opportunities.”
Other concerts this season include: Grass Cats on Saturday, September 12, 3 p.m.; Cary Town Band on Friday, September 25, 7:30 p.m.; and Brass at Bond on Saturday, October 10, 1 p.m.
Other entertaining performing arts events at Sertoma Amphitheatre this fall include a performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Cary Players on October 2-4 & October 8-10, at 7:30 p.m. and Applause! Cary Youth Theatre as they present Dracula on October 15-17, 7:30 p.m. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is $14 (Adults), $11 (Students & Seniors) when purchased in advance. Door price is $14. The October 8 performance is only $10! Dracula is $10 Adults, $8 Students & Seniors, $5 (Children 12 & Under) when purchased in advance. Door price is $10.
In case of rain, the concert will be held at the Kiwanis Shelter in Bond Park.
