BACKYARD CHICKENS


Backyard chickens, along with some other forms of domestic fowl and livestock (including peacocks, sheep, horses, cows, and llamas) are allowed by right in the Town of Cary R-40 and R-80 zoning districts, which allow for animal husbandry. Animal husbandry exemptions, therefore, are not necessary in these areas and are not given for other zoning districts within Cary.
