CARY, NC – Music lovers are in for a double treat this weekend as the Cary Town Band presents “Colors of Autumn” at Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park on Friday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m., and Riders in the Sky performs at the Herbert C. Young Community Center, 101 Wilkinson Ave., on Saturday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m. The Cary Band concert is free, and tickets for the Riders in the Sky show are $18 (adults) and $16 (seniors 55 and older). Tickets are available at the Community Center or at Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or (919) 834-4000; tickets are also available at the door. Also, guests can purchase the Friends & Family Four Pack for $56, which includes four tickets, good for all ages for one individual concert.
On Friday, the Cary Town Band will color an early fall evening with musical colors and recall events of the season. Colorful selections include the March from Prokofiev’s “The Love of Three Oranges”, “Blue Skirt Waltz”, and “Blue Eyes Polka”. Then on Saturday, Riders in the Sky will take to the stage with their reviving and revitalizing Western music genre. While staying true to the tradition of the Sons of the Pioneers, Gene Autrey and Roy Rogers, Riders in the Sky make Western music their own by adding their own brand of zany humor to the mix. The two-time Grammy-winning group known as “ America ’s favorite cowboys” has performed everywhere from county fairs to Carnegie Hall.
“Tempt your musical pallet to two great concerts right in your own community,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch. “Best of all, these concerts provide quality entertainment that the entire family can enjoy.”
The Cary Town Band performance marks the third event in the Fall Sertoma Series, which provides fun, outdoor cultural events of the highest caliber for families to attend. The Riders in the Sky concert is a part of Cary ’s Marvelous Music Series 10th anniversary season which draws national performing artists to the area. All of the acts in this year’s Marvelous Music season were chosen by previous season ticket holders who voted for their favorite acts
