CARY, NC – Triangle music lovers are invited to a musical celebration unlike any other; the Ritmo Latino Music, Dance & Art Festival kicks off on Sunday, August 9 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Bond Park, 801 High House Road. Rain or shine, the free event will feature Bravo Nornteño, Beverly Bostford, Triangle Salsa Allstars and Brazilian Soul, as well as folkloric dance performances by Espiritu Latino: Tapatio Mexican, and Bomba Y Plena: Cruz Dance Group. Each year, Ritmo Latino offers the public a chance to enjoy and participate in Latino dance and music, in addition to learning about Latino arts and crafts.
For the first time, Ritmo Latino will offer a free soccer clinic in conjunction with the Carolina Railhawks on Sunday, August 9 from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Bond Park. The free soccer clinic is for children ages 5-8 and 9-13. Pre-registration is not required.
The main act for the day, Bravo Nornteño, has become a renowned Mexican band and will perform Mexican Nornteño music. They have appeared all over the country and have developed a great following. Guests will also be entertained by the Afro-Cuban music of percussionist Beverly Bostford. A native of Charlotte , NC , she has shared the stage with performers such as Sir Roland Hanna, Bud Shank and Tito Puente. The entertainment will continue with the Triangle’s best Salsa, Merengue, and Latin Jazz Salsa Bands performing as the Triangle Salsa Allstars. Ricardo Granillo, host of a Latin jazz radio show on 88.9 WSHA FM, will lead their performance.
“Everyone is invited to experience Latino flavor and culture at this entertaining festival,” said Cary ’s Cultural Arts Program Specialist Rob Garner. “The entire day will include events that the entire family can enjoy.”
Everyone is also invited to a free concert by Brazilian Soul, led by Brazilian guitarist and vocalist Paulo Lopes, on August 7 at the Page- Walker Arts & History Center, 119 Ambassador Loop, as part of the Starlight Concert Series.
