TRAFFIC ALERTS: Chapel Hill Road, NC 55

September 12, 2008

The Town of Cary will begin removing the traffic signals at Chapel Hill and Reedy Creek roads beginning Monday, September 15.  The signals will go on flash on Monday, September 15 and will be removed on Monday, September 22 between 9 a.m. and noon .  Minor delays are expected during the removal of the signals.  The Cary Town Council approved removal of the signals at its regular meeting on September 11 following a joint traffic signal study with NCDOT.  The study determined that because of a decrease in traffic volume at the intersection, the signal no longer met national standards for traffic signals.

Also on Monday, September 15, the NCDOT will begin resurfacing pavement along N.C. Highway 55 in Cary from just south of Parkscene Lane through the intersection of NC 55 and High House/Green Level West Road .  The work is expected to be performed during the nights and weekends, and all of the work should be complete by October 24.  For more, contact the NCDOT resident engineer at (919) 733-9499.
