Cary Sign Rule Reminder
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 20, 2008
CARY SIGN RULE REMINDER
With election season in full swing, the Town of Cary reminds everyone that signs of all kinds -- including political signs -- are regulated within town and in the ETJ. To achieve a good balance between free speech and keeping Cary the beautiful place that citizens desire, political signs should not exceed 5 square feet or 42 inches in height. One political sign is allowed for each candidate per individual lot or parcel; additional signs are permitted if the lot has frontage on a second street. Also, please keep all signs off of public property and out of public rights of way including medians, street corners, intersections, and ditches. And please don’t attach signs to light poles, trees, or traffic signals. Signs that don’t support the Town’s rules may be removed by Town staff, and fines can be eventually assessed, if necessary. To learn more about Cary ’s sign ordinance, read the Sign ordinance at www.townofcary.org or call (919) 469-4082.
